Frequently Asked Questions
· How long has this process been in use?
About 12 years
· What types of walls can be made?
Large or small rock effect walls, engineered walls, planter walls, large retainer walls, garden walls.
· Can these walls be used for fences?
Yes
· What design variations are available? (e.g. Sharp corners, curved lines…)
Because of the versatility of the materials (you do not have blocks to cut or need to find the right shaped stone) you can create virtually any shape that would be designed for the landscape: S shaped, curves, corners, separated w/ steps, planters…
· How tall can you make these walls?
7 ft
· Are there any special tools or products required to make these walls?
Standard trowels, locally available acrylic fibers
· Does the color wear or chip off?
It can be chipped but that will not easily occur. It can also fade slightly if not properly sealed.
· How is it maintained?
No real maintenance is required
· How soon after installation can work be done around the walls?
Depending on the work being done – if it is a large retainer and heavy fill will be put in place you should allow a couple weeks to cure. A simple planter can be filled in a day or two after installation – the work would have to be sealed and the sealer allowed to dry.
· How long does installation take?
A 40’x4’ would take about 8.5 hrs
· Is there any special preparation that needs to be done prior to installation?
Standard footer and rebar
· Is rebar used in the walls or footer?
Yes, in both
· Do you use a special mix?
Yes
· I mix my own concrete – can I get the same mix as you would get from the concrete companies?
Maybe
· How much do these walls cost to install?
About $10 per sq ft (based on prices for concrete in our area at the current time -- price may vary)
· How much can I sell them for?
Generally they go for $35 - $40 per sq ft.
· How does it compare to block?
There is really no comparison. Our walls cost you less because the materials are more affordable. They take less time and labor to install. They are stronger, longer lasting and look better. Block looks like block ours looks like rock.
· How does it compare to a real rock wall?
The look is similar but the difference is in the cost and the strength. Our walls cost you less because the materials are more affordable. They take less time and labor to install. They are stronger because it is a monolithic pour as opposed to stacking and mortaring rocks of various shapes and sizes.
· How long will it take me to learn this process?
The learning curve can vary some get it on the first pour but the average person generally learns the process in 2 to 3 pours.
